SD vs microSD: Capacity Support, U3 & V30 Recording Classes
Physical format, supported capacity and recording class answer different questions. Check all three against the host manual before selecting a memory card.
Choose the physical format first
A10 is a full-size SD card; H2 is microSD / TF. They are different physical sizes. Both are listed in 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. Use the format required by your camera, recorder or mobile device.
Check capacity-standard support
SDHC covers capacities above 2 GB through 32 GB; SDXC covers above 32 GB through 2 TB. Within the listed A10 and H2 ranges, 16 GB and 32 GB use the SDHC capacity class, while 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB use SDXC. A host’s physical slot alone does not confirm SDXC support.
Understand recording-class labels
All current listed A10 and H2 capacities are specified as UHS-I, U3 and V30. Speed-class labels describe minimum sequential-writing performance under the standard’s defined conditions. Match the required class shown by the host manual; they are not peak read-speed claims or a guarantee for every video mode.
Plan the recording and transfer workflow
Estimate storage from recording bitrate and duration, then leave room for your workflow. A resolution label such as 4K alone does not establish the required card class. For card transfers, CR100 and CR200 both accept SD and microSD. Confirm any continuous-recording or endurance requirement for the specific configuration.
